Make perfect copies of all your disks

DVD and CD disks became a part of our lifestyle, most of us have a significant collection of movies, audio CDs, photos, games, office documents and other disks. And it's very often that you need to make a copy of that disks, for backup purposes or simply to make a couple of copies of your wedding video for your friends. There are many programs that can copy your DVD movies, but very few of those which can copy all your disks, both CD and DVD.

Here we'll test a program called Clone My DVD, which claims copying any kind of DVD and CD disks. "Clone My DVD - a universal DVD and CD copier" is what we see on product's website, and we'd like to check is it really can copy any kind of disk?

Installation takes several seconds, the program is designed as a classic step-by-step wizard, it looks slick and clear. Choose disk to copy, it's a DVD movie now, and press "Next" button to go further. We've got two DVD drives on our test computer so the program asks do we want to copy directly from drive to drive? Yes we do! Press "Next" again and it started to copy. By default it makes one copy, but you can set number of copies as you like.

Come again, now with an audio CD. Clone My DVD does the job perfectly, we've got exactly the same CD, no quality loss at all! We did the same with a couple of game CDs, CD with photos, MP3 music DVD, another DVD movie, and one more DVD movie. All attempts were successfull, no hassles.

Then we tested how it works with a single CD/DVD drive. First it copies from disk to computer, then asks to insert a blank disk and writes a copy. It takes additional time, but the result is also perfect.

What we also noticed is Clone My DVD doesn't reduce the quality of DVD movies and audio CDs, which is good. In fact, you get a true copy, exactly the same as original. Clone My DVD is really able to copy any CDs and DVDs, and it doesn't matter what disk is in your drive, you get a proper copy with Clone My DVD anyway. We succesfully copied over ten disks, both CD and DVD, which contained video, MP3 music, CD audio tracks, photos, documents, free software and other stuff. It successfully recognizes various CDR/RW, DVD+/-R/RW disks and double-layer DVD movies.

There is only one feature missed in Clone My DVD. Regrettably it cannot encode 9Gb double-layer DVD to the 4.7Gb single layer, so those who're looking for this feature will be frustrated. But anyway Clone My DVD is still one of the best copying software we ever seen.

Free trial version allows you to copy up to three whole disks, the only limitation is copying protected DVD movies, which is available only in full version. Free download from

/clonemydvd11.exe

Conclusion

Clone My DVD is awesome, it can make a copy of all DVD and CD disks, even those are region-protected. You just insert a disk, press couple of buttons and get a carbon copy. It can copy to blank disk, make multiple copies if you want, and it allows to copy directly from drive to drive. All these functions are wrapped into a very clear and simple nterface, not overloaded with too many buttons and menus. If you're looking for all-in-one disk copier try Clone My DVD, which is like a swiss knife - easy to handle and universal at the same time.

Tony Romo 2001 Draft Day Picks

Tony Romo was born on April 21, 1980 in San Diego, California. Although it has taken a while for Romo to emerge to the top of the game of football, he has done just that as of late. It is safe to say that he does not get as much attention as the other quarterbacks in the league, but this does not mean that he is not making his mark. In fact, Romo is one of the best young quarterbacks in the entire league, and he is poised to show this over the next few seasons.

Romo was not a powerhouse high school quarterback, and for this reason he did not land at a big name college or university. Instead, Romo took his game to Eastern Illinois University, a Division I-AA school. Although he did not see a lot of playing time as a freshman, things changed drastically the next year. During his sophomore season Romo passed for 27 touchdowns and 2,583 yards. Things were just the same the next year when Romo passed for 21 more touchdowns and 2,068 yards. Romo saved his best performance for his senior season. During this year he passed for 3,418 yards and 34 touchdowns. When everything was said and done he finished his career with more than 8,000 yard passing, as well as many awards.

Although Romo attended the NFL scouting combine in 2003 he went undrafted. Fortunately, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent and was given the chance to show off his skills to the coaching staff. After serving as a backup for two seasons, Romo finally had the chance to take over as a starter in 2006. While leading the Cowboys to the playoffs Romo passed for 2,903 yards and 19 touchdowns. This was good enough for him to be named to the 2007 Pro Bowl during his first year as a starter.

Seattle Seahawks At San Francisco 49ers

It's a week 11 NFL match up of division foes. The Seahawks lead the series 8-6 and have plowed through the 49ers in the last 6 meetings. They could very well post another 14+ point victory this week.

The 49ers are coming off another victorythey are 4-5 nowand hope to make it three in a row. Two weeks ago they beat the Minnesota Vikings in San Francisco 9-6. To say this game was boring is an understatement. Last week they went to Detroit and beat a lackluster Lions team 19-13. I think the Detroit Tigers would have gave them a better run for the money.

The Seahawks continue to move forward without MVP running back Shaun Alexander and Pro Bowl QB Matt Hasslebeck. However, there's good new from Seahawks camp. Both will be practicing this week. They might get some limited duty this weekenddepending how the game goes. Last week backup RB Morris and QB Wallace helped the Seahawks beat division foe St. Louis. The play of the game was the 90ish yard return by newly sign WR Nate Burleson.

Wallace is playing pretty well and the 49ers aren't exactly a top team. We might see Hasslebeck play a series or even take another week off. The remaining schedule favors the Seahawks, so they can be a bit cautious here.

I'm looking for the Hawks offense to explode on the soft 49ers secondary. This is a team49ersthat gave up 40+ points to Chicago, Kansas City and San Diego. They also gave up 34 to Arizona and 38 to Philadelphia. This could be another explosive day for the Seahawks offense. Look for them to open it up early to get a lead and give their returning stars the opportunity to "practice" during the game. This is another great opportunity for the Seahawks defense to tighten up and work on some issues.

Nursing Jobs - Insider Tips On Choosing The Best Employer

Nurses are in high demand and that demand has created an excellent opportunity for those in the health care field. It's not only a chance for better wages than ever before; it's also an opportunity to choose your benefits. That means that you'll look more closely at the individual companies and what they can offer.

So what benefits can you expect as a nurse? Take a look at some options you'll find from the various nursing agencies and health care facilities.

Favorable working conditions and hours - While there's no doubt that more nurses and other health care professionals are constantly in demand, many companies and facilities are offering nurses and technicians time off as an incentive to work for them. These companies do whatever it takes to keep working hours to a reasonable level, including hiring temporary workers from other companies. This means that there's less demand to work overtime, leaving even nurses time for themselves and their families. The goal is two fold. Not only do these companies want to attract and retain quality employees, they also realize that nurses and others health care professionals are more likely to be at the top of their game when they're handling reasonable working hours with adequate backup staffing.

The tangibles - Not only are nurses demanding higher wages than ever before, they're also being offered other benefits that haven't been necessarily associated with professionals in this industry in the past. Most are small incentives that carry little importance to some people, but may become big issues. Direct deposit is one example. Seem like a minor point? Maybe, until you're getting your paycheck on Thursday night, are too tired after working overnight to make the trip to the bank Friday and wind up with a check that still hasn't been cashed the following week.

Part-time, temporary and situational jobs - There are companies out there that offer placement for nurses to meet situational requirements. You may not want the responsibility of a full-time position in a hospital, but want to work only a few weeks at a time. You have plenty of options. Choose travel nursing and spend a few days on the road each month, or a few months out at a time. Pick up part-time work or temporary positions. You have plenty of options without working full time and there are companies that do nothing but placements for people like you. Be careful to choose a reputable company and be wary of signing a long-term contract that limits your work with other companies, but this could be a viable option.

Education - There are some real options available if you want a career in nursing or want to advance your education to make yourself more attractive on the marketplace. Take a year off to get some additional training or take a night class. You can choose online courses or pick up classes at your community college or university. You have plenty of options if you want to advance your career with education.

Pay - Most nurses will tell you they choose their field because of the good they can do other people, but there's no doubt that the money is attractive. And pay for nurses in all walks of the health care industry have never been better.

Need Some Psp Game Download Guidance

If you want a PSP game download on your Sony PSP, you must have a memory stick for the accumulation of the files on it. If you want to watch video clips or movies or have a lot of video games installed on your Sony, you will need to purchase a larger Memory Stick Pro Duo card.

When making a PSP game download to your computer, make sure that it is compatible with your PSP Sony. If the file is not compatible, the downloading and installing process will go wrong and you will have to repeat the download one more time. Download a file that will work with the current version of Firmware installed on your PSP. You probably want to download the newest version of the game. However, this will depend on what version of Firmware is installed on your PSP. Generally, most homebrew PSP games work with Firmware 1.5 and under only. If when downloading you get an error that says something like "The data is corrupted" or "The game could not be started" then the Firmware version on your PSP is not compatible with the homebrew game.

Have a look and make sure the file you download ends with "psp." This is because the author has shared the game to several different platforms. Only a version with "psp" in the name will match with your Sony PSP. Usually most of the PSP game download that you will find on the web are compressed. All computers come with a compression application like Stuff it Expander (Mac) or Winzip (PC) and will "unzip" this file. Once the unzipping is over you will find two folders which contain the game and also the file read me file from the author.

The next step in PSP game download is to unite the PSP to your PC. Then insert the PSP into USB. Press the HOME button located on the bottom left of your PSP and then you should roll left to the SETTINGS feature. Go down to USB CONNECTION and press X. The Memory Stick inside your PSP will now mount or connect with your computer. In order to copy the file you should do the following: PSP > GAME. If you place the game files anywhere else on the Memory Stick, it will not function properly.

If the "PSP" and "GAME" folders don't yet exist on your PSP's Memory Stick, then you need to make two new folders and name them in ALL CAPS. There are some more steps to follow in order to play the game on your PSP. After you finished copying the game onto your Memory Stick, you are free to disconnect the PSP from your PC. Enter the game main menu. From the main menu, roll over to the GAME file on your Sony PSP and then down to the Memory Stick option. After this press X and a list of game files will appear on your display. Press DOWN and you should see the game you just installed. So now you can enjoy playing your favorite games and you can consider yourself a master of PSP game download due to this tutorial.

PSP Games - How To Download PSP Games From The Internet

In today's video game market you have to pay quite a bit of money to get the brand new cutting edge video game systems like the PS3, XBox 360 and even the Sony PSP, I am talking major money anywhere from $300 to $500 dollars then on top of that you have to buy the expensive games that can be $50 to $60 dollars, just ridiculous prices.

With all this money, it is pretty hard to keep up and get the newest games and or systems, so I decide to do some homework on trying to find an alternate way of getting games for my PSP. Well it didn't take long for me to cut down on the cost of buying games for my PSP, in fact, now I get all my PSP games for free.

Have you been having trouble learning how to download games on your PSP? It is really easy to learn how. Here's how to do it in 6 easy steps.

1.) Get A Memory Stick

You are going to need a lot of free space. The original 32 MB stick just won’t cut it. How can you download games or watch movies on 32 MBs?! I would recommend 256 Megs of free space.

2.) Download PSP game files to your computer

Make sure you aren’t downloading shareware but full games. Once you download the games you want to your computer, you are able to transfer them to your PSP.

3.) Decompress the file

If the games are compressed in a ZIP file, you will need a free program like Winzip or Stuffit Expander (Mac) to decompress the file. These programs will automatically unzip the file.

4.) Connect your PSP to your computer

Now, how do we play the games? To be able to play the games, you must connect the PSP to your computer (duh). You should use the free USB cable that the PSP comes with. The PSP must be in USB mode for the files to download. How to do this? Press the HOME button and scroll to the SETTINGS column. Scroll to USB CONNECTION and press X. Then you are ready for file transfer.

5.) Copy the PSP Game to your PSP

You have to copy the full game to PSP > Game. If you do not put the game in this folder, it will certainly not work.

6.) Play the game

I know it sounds to good to be true, but believe me when I say this is the real deal. It is 100% legal and extremely easy, all you have to do is download the PSP games from your computer onto your PSP and start playing. There are literally thousands of PSP games that are available to download, but you have to be care as there are a lot of sites out there that will really mess with your computer with adware and spyware.

PSP Emulator And Game

PSP emulator and game are something you can get serious enjoyment out of with your PSP. The PSP is a fantastic system for games, and among its many advantages is that it is quite easy to download and use emulators and games with it. With a bit of advice from here, you could soon be playing Double Dragon and Castlevania on your PSP?

It isn't quite as straightforward to use PSP emulator and game as you might expect. If you think it is just a case of transferring the game onto a memory card and then running it, it isn't. There is more to it than that. In order to make any progress with this project, you will need emulator software. This will tell your PSP what it has to do to mimic a different system, and enable it to play the games from the other system. You can pick up this type of software in many different places, but you do have to be very careful as a lot of these sites can be dangerous. There are unscrupulous sites which could have you download a virus, or something which will damage your PSP. Later in the article I will tell you where to find the honest, genuine sites that you can use to safely download the software.

You are unlikely to be able to get a PSP emulator and game from one place. Usually you will need to pick them up from different sites. The game files for an emulator are called a rom, and there is no shortage of ROM sites online. The biggest pitfall you face when downloading PSP emulator and game is a legal one. A lot of the old games are still under copyright, and if you do download the game and have not paid for it, you will be breaking the law. There are manufacturers who have legalized the downloading of their emulators and games by transferring them into the public domain. There is a very useful loophole that you could try and use. Provided you have a legal copy of the game already, there is no law against having backups. This means that your old SNES game that you still own can be played on your PSP, provided your original copy was a legal one!

Just as an aside, when using PSP emulator and game, you may come across the problem of some firmwares not allowing you to use emulators. You can, however, downgrade your PSP firmware, and you are often better off with a slightly older one.

You will often find that the toughest problem with PSP emulator and game is that of finding trustworthy sources. Sites can be put into three broad categories-

Free Sites-The only thing that keeps these sites free is that no one would ever give them money for their services! You will receive a very poor choice of games and emulators, software which doesn't work, spyware and viruses, painfully slow downloads, and downloads which turn out to be something totally different from what they were supposed to be. Good luck if you use one of these sites, you will need it!

Scam Membership sites-These are sites which pretend to be free, but will grab your credit card details every time you go to download something. I would stay away from these because I don't really like paying again for a game I had on Genesis in 1992.

Genuine Membership sites- This is the place you need to look at for PSP emulator and game. There IS a charge, but it is a one off charge, and it is not that large. By paying this one time fee, you will have access to all the great condition emulator downloads you could ever wish for. Usually you will get to download as many free PSP games as you can manage. These are the sites I use for my emulator downloads, and I would recommend them. Getting to grips with PSP emulator and game is not quite as easy as many people think, so hopefully these tips will be of great use to you!

Getting to know Backup Xbox Game

A backup Xbox Game is considered as a clean copy of an original Xbox game with an aim to ensure that consumer has the same game stored in this computer without being scratched or damaged and no longer playable. To creat the same game, a simple way is that you can use backup software purchased on the internet. These copies economize the Xbox gaming console by not having to buy the same game disc again should it gets scratched or damaged permanently. It also ensures the dedicated gamer can still continue his game on the event that the original disc is lost or stolen. He just needs to burn the backup copy and you are done. As long as you purchased the original game, it is not considered illegal. Backups is done through different techniques, but be sure you do it the correct way that really works for you. Also, burning your games to a DVD, you will be able to burn more than one game at a time. This makes it simple to carry the games around and enables you to play multiple games without the need to switch discs in the player. The burden of having to get up to switch discs will be eliminated. A backup Xbox Game is a sure way of protecting your expensive game collection without having too much trouble doing it. Now, you never have to worry about lending your friend a game ever again. He may scratch or lose the disc but then you can always make another copy for him or for yourself. And you don't even have to lend him the original game in the first place. You can give a backup copy of the game instead. google_ad_client = "pub-2311940475806896"; /* 300x250, created 1/6/11 */ google_ad_slot = "0098904308"; google_ad_width = 300; google_ad_height = 250; The practicality of this method is what makes gamers out there happy and secure.

sudoku online

Play Sudoku Online on these 5 great Sudoku Websites!

Sudoku is an abbreviation of the Japanese phrase Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru, which means the digits must remain single. Sudoku was designed by Howard Garnes, a 74year old architect and freelance puzzle maker, and was first published in 1979 in a New York puzzle magazine, Dell Pencil Puzzles and Word Games. It was first entitled as Number Place.

Japanese paper Monthly Nikolist first printed Number Place on April 1984 as Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru, as named by Kaji Maki, the president of the Nikoli company. To this day, Nikoli holds the copyright to the name Sudoku. Other publications use other names for Sudoku.

Sudoku is played on a 9X9 grid, with 3x3 subgrids referred to as regions, boxes, blocks, or even quadrants. In each box, some cells already have numbers, called given, or clues. A player has to place a number in each of the empty squares of the box in such a way that the box contains the numbers 1 to 9 exactly once.

Take note that each puzzle has only one valid solution.

Role Playing on Pocket PC

PDAMill Arvale Short Tales Review

Author:

Dungeons and Dragons, the very first role-playing game, was also the first game to be programmed on a computer. At those times, a computer was not a small box connected to a monitor or a TV. It was a room full of huge steel cabinets. These computers could only display text; they had nothing like billion color displays or surround sound of today's PCs. Yet, role-playing games were still available in text-only mode.

Just imagine gameplay where a computer would print something like "You are in a dark room." You would type "Light lantern with match", and the computer would reply with "This room appears to be a library. There's a table with a crystal ball in the center. You also see bookshelves, ladder, and a door leading east."

Was it fun to play? Sure, at the time, it was!

Luckily, modern role-playing games are very far from those of the early days of computers. Today's computer fits in the palm of your hand, and today's role-playing game displays pictures and animations, and produces realistic sounds to make the process even more fun!

Arvale: Short Tales by Handster / is a great modern role-playing game. It's small enough to fit even into the busiest person's PDA, while sports crisp graphics and a dynamic sound track.

Unlike simpler Pocket PC based role-playing games, Arvale: Short Tales includes not one but four unique stories with four unique characters to enjoy. (Spoiler: there is a hidden fifth character somewhere in the game!) You'll get endless hours of fun and entertainment with free exploration of open-ended, quest-style gameplay.

Keep playing and relax with a carefully thought-out, simplified scoring system. Explore beautifully painted, stylish locations with hundreds of detailed maps. Meet friendly characters and mendacious monsters. Enjoy the difference between night and day with unique available actions. Take multiple side quests, experience unique atmospheres, feel the ambience of the sound track. Have fun talking to the characters (some of them are hilarious!) Can't get enough of it? Discover the special fifth character for even more Tales!

Download your free trial copy at: /product.php?id=200 and start playing now! You are guaranteed to have hours of fun and entertainment with Arvale: Short Tales.

This Week In Betting A To Z

Each week Doc's Sports will take a look at the sports betting world in an A-Z format.

A - Anderson, Derek. Be honest - could you have named Cleveland's backup QB before last Sunday? Anderson may have been an anonymous player on an anonymous team, but he announced himself when he entered the game in relief of the injured Charlie Frye. His team was down by 14, so he led two touchdown drives in the last nine minutes, and then set up the winning field goal in overtime with an impressive scramble. Quarterback controversy?

B - BCS. As a diehard Michigan fan, this is not my favorite topic these days. We got screwed, and nothing you can say will change my mind. On the plus side, the national title game just became very easy to handicap. Ohio State is a bargain at anything less than two touchdowns.

C - Cowboys. Tony Romo looked mortal for the first time, the offense struggled at times, and the Giants looked better on offense than they have in a while, yet Dallas still managed to win, and to cover if you shopped hard enough for the right line. The way they are playing right now, there are few teams in the NFC, if any, that will present much of a challenge in the playoffs.

D - Dallas Mavericks. They started 0-4, and it looked like they had troubles. But then they won 12 games in a row, and covered in 10 of the 12. Every team wishes that they had those kinds of troubles. No team in sports is hotter.

E - Eastern Washington Eagles. Remember the name Rodney Stuckey. The guard is averaging almost 28 points a game for the Eagles, helping his team go over (way, way over) in every game they have played so far.

F - Fresno State. The Bulldogs failed to cover this weekend. What else is new? During the team's dismal 4-8 season, they managed to cover the spread just once. They failed to cover as favorites six times, including four outright losses. The low point was a loss to Utah State as 25-point favorites.

G - Grossman, Rex. Just when you thought a guy couldn't get any worse. 6-of-19 for 34 yards and three interceptions is so bad it's almost unbelievable. That's a quarterback rating of 1.3. I think I could get a rating of at least 2, and I've never been mistaken for an athlete.

H - Hype. It was only one game, but Greg Oden lived up to it. The freshman superstar played his first game for Ohio State on Saturday. His hand was still in a brace, and he was obviously rusty, but he was an absolute beast. He scored, rebounded, and blocked shots at will. When he gets healthy and in playing shape then Ohio State should cruise to a Big Ten title.

I - Insignificant. That's what home field advantage was this Sunday in the NFL. Eight of 14 home teams lost outright, including three favorites. Overall, it was another week for the underdogs, with eight covering in the first 15 games (one of which was a push).

J - Jokes. Some things this week were so bad they were funny - Georgia Tech's offense, Chris Leak as an option quarterback, Mathias Kiwanuka's ball handling skills, the new NFL referee cold weather uniforms, Fox's BCS show.

K - Kansas Jayhawks. How is it possible that the same team can beat Florida and then lose to both Oral Roberts and DePaul over a two-week period? It seems like they are just setting themselves up for their standard first round tournament loss.

L - Lackadaisical. The effort put forth by the St. Louis Rams. They looked quite good at the beginning of the year, but they have totally disappeared in recent weeks. It's hard to imagine that they'll be worth a bet for the rest of the season.

M - Manning. It was a bad weekend to be a member of football's royal family. Both of their teams lost, and neither QB looked particularly swell. The two players have only covered once in eight tries over the last four weeks.

N - Nevada. The Wolf Pack have been a trendy pick on tournament brackets for a few years, and they look like they will be again this year. They are led by forward Nick Fazekas, averaging 22.6 points and 12.7 rebounds, and they are 4-1 ATS.

O - Oakland. How bad are the Raiders? Houston managed only 161 yards of total offense, including just 32 in the air, and they beat Oakland by nine points.

P - Prime time. What Jay Cutler isn't quite ready for. His first game wasn't a disaster, but he looked much more like a raw rookie than the savior he was supposed to be. He passed for 143 yards, but half of that came on one pass, and receiver Brandon Marshall did most the work, breaking three tackles on the way to the end zone. Cutler will get there, but he won't be worth betting my money on for a while.

Q - Quarles, Shelton. The only active NFL player with a last name starting with Q. He missed Tampa's game this week with a knee injury. There's nothing noteworthy to say. It's just really hard to come up with things that start with Q.

R - Red Zone. The Dolphins should spend their entire practice time this week working on punching the ball into the end zone. They had first downs inside the ten twice and came away with nothing either time. Nick Saban will be doing a lot of screaming.

S - Suicide. That's what Trojans' players must be contemplating after laying a gigantic egg in what should have been a simple, and absolutely crucial, game against UCLA. If they do kill themselves, Florida will send the biggest bouquet to the funeral.

T - Turkey Hangover. Of the six NFL teams that played their last game on Thanksgiving day, only one, Detroit, covered this week, and only Dallas won straight up. Maybe the extra few days of rest isn't a good thing. Will Cincinnati and Baltimore have the same problem next week?

U - Upsets. They're the norm in college basketball this season. Florida lost to Florida State. Kansas loses to everyone not in the top 25. Marquette lost to North Dakota State. There is some serious money to be made betting the underdog morning lines if you pick the right ones.

V - Vick, Michael. He had a 'good' day, and his team won by 10. I still can't make myself believe in a quarterback whose good days are 50 percent passing, 122 yards, and two touchdowns. It's not a wonder that trade rumors are popping up. If he gave Raiders' fans the finger he wouldn't make it out of the stadium alive.

W - Withdrawal. What I am likely to suffer from with no college football for the next two weekends. I only have to make it until Dec. 19 and the Poinsettia Bowl. I'm counting the seconds.

X - eXplosion. Reggie Bush had one of the offensive variety this week. He had two touchdowns in his career until now, and he got four on Sunday. Most impressive was his receiving impact, with well over 100 yards and a touchdown. When Marques Colston returns to the lineup, the Saints could be even more dangerous offensively than they already are.

Y - Young, Vince. Two weeks ago I thought this guy should have stayed in college for another year. Oops. Twice in a row he has led his team back from big deficits, and he has looked like a seasoned veteran doing it. Tennessee is already a good bet, and they are going to be a good team next year.

Z - Zero. The number of things that Tampa Bay fans have to feel good about after their team's game against Pittsburgh. Bruce Gradkowski was terrible, they couldn't run, they couldn't contain the pass rush. The Bucs had the look of a team ready to mail in the rest of the season.

Laptop on Cruise Should I bring my laptop on cruise ship vacation or leave it at home

For many of us personal computers and laptops have an important role in work and life. We all know that, and apparently cruise lines know that too.

That is the reason why they put a lot of effort into facilities and services that will cover information technology needs of passengers.

For many people it is enough just to exchange few emails with their families or friends during vacation and they can do that from internet caf located either on the ship or in the port.

However, there are a certain number of cruisers that dont want to separate from their laptops even during their precious vacation time on ship. This could be for various reasons: catching-up their work if needed, keeping on internet activities or games or having access to personal files such are photos or videos, etc...

There are some things to keep in mind when you decide to bring laptop to cruise:

Before booking check with cruise line or travel agent is there and what kind of internet access is available on ship. That really depends from one ship to another.

Few scenarios are possible:

No internet access at all, in this case you can use your laptop in your cabin or anywhere else but only offline

Internet access trough ship's local area network, you will need network cable to connect and probably ships IT personnel to help you with setup

WI-FI access is best and most comfortable solution, available mostly on new, modern ships. You can use your laptop wherever you want, in your cabin or in any public area where WI-FI signal is present. Of course, your model needs to have wireless access antenna to use this feature.

Note that lines charge internet access and it's usually not included in fare. Prices may vary and you better check them in advanced.

Another important issue to consider is security. You cannot carry your laptop with you all the time and it's good to know few things on how to avoid headache caused by loosing valuable data or such-like ...

First make a good backup of all of your data on some media like CD or memory stick and keep it on safe at home. If you do that, whatever happens to the laptop you will have your data and be able to recover from loss.

Remove your business data from laptop before trip if they are not absolutely necessary. In case its stolen, for sure the last thing you want is that potential thief has a top classified data from your company. This happens more often than you would think and in some cases consequences can be disastrous. So move your business data on CD mentioned above, keep it on safe place and put them back on after vacation. If it is really necessary to have business data on

it even on a cruise you may consider using software encryption to secure them.

Secure access to your laptop with password. Most basic password protection is the one implemented in your operating system (Microsoft Windows mostly). In most cases this will protect you from non welcomed users. For extra protection it is also possible to use BIOS password. BIOS is basic computer setup menu which can be accessed if you press DEL (or some other key depending of manufacturer) key during machine startup. This function is usually being displayed as press DEL to enter setup on most laptops. Three kind of passwords are possible to enable that:

1.Boot password - to allow only authorized booting up of operating system.

2.Hard disk lock password - to secure your hard disk with password in case it has been removed from your laptop and used in some other machine.

3.BIOS access password - is to secure entering BIOS settings where first two passwords can be turned off.

Those advanced measures are not recommended to be handled by inexperienced users. If you decide to use BIOS passwords it is highly recommended to ask for a professional assistance.

If your cabin has a safe and laptop can fit in use it. Since this is not the case on most of the ships, another option is to check if your machine has a security lock slot. If it does, you can purchase a security cable which enables you to lock laptop to some non movable object and prevent theft. Recently on market can be found another type of security cables that use VGA port if your model does not have security slot.

Avoid making nave mistakes like having a sheet of paper with passwords in carrying case or such-like

Do not leave your laptop on public places like hotel lobbies or airports without keeping an eye on it

Of course, not all measures mentioned above should be necessary but thats all up to you to make the best judgment on how to protect your assets.

Taking a few simple precaution measures can spare you of trouble and definitely can prevent ruining your vacation.

What You Can Do If It Rains During Your Disney World Vacation

You've been looking forward to your Disney World vacation for months. You've packed your bags, bought your plant ticket or hopped in the car, checked into your hotel room, and are just about to go out and explore Disney World Park. Then... it gets cloudy overhead and starts to rain. Uh-oh, your day's ruined... or is it?

Here are some activities you can do at Disney World, even if Mother Nature is uncooperative:

- You can go to other attractions that take place indoors. For example, you can watch the Lion King or the Little Mermaid show, go on the Animation Tour, visit the Tower of Terror, or go see Pirates of the Carribbean or Dinosaur.

- You can still explore a park. The best ones to go to on a rainy day are Magic Kingdom, MGM, and Epcot Futureworld. A lot of attractions at these parks are close together under cover.

- You can watch a movie at AMC Theater Complex 24 at Downtown Disney's West Side. You're sure to find something you'll be interested in.

- You can hop on the monorail and take a tour of the resorts and what they have. Just ask to ride in the driver's cabin and enjoy exploring the Polynesian, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian resorts.

- You can also take the free tour at the Grand Floridian resort or the Wilderness Lodge.

- If it starts raining on you while you're walking along the Boardwalk, scoot inside one of the restaurants or clubs nearby. You'll find family and luxury dining, sports bars, and a piano bar, among other things.

- Race a car, go golfing or skiing, or try other video simulator games and activities courtesy of the ESPN Club. You can also visit video arcades inside the Disney World resorts.

- Create your own roller coaster ride at DisneyQuest. This interactive theme park is an indoor, weather-protected attraction at Downtown Disney's West Side. You'll find great family entertainment here with games, simulators, high-tech rides, and virtual reality activities.

- You can also enjoy activities on a rainy night! Hop on over to Downtown Disney's Pleasure Island and enjoy one of their themed nightclubs, or treat yourself to a House of Blues concert at Downtown Disney's West Side.

You might also be able to catch some fireworks at Magic Kingdom or the Epcot Center. They won't be canceled due to rain, and with more people choosing to call it a night or head inside, you can find a good vantage point.

- Of course, you can always choose to brave the weather and go to Disney World Park anyway! Others will leave the park, which means shorter lines for you. So buy yourself a poncho, and have an extra pair of socks and shoes handy in case you need them, and take advantage of an emptier park.

Don't let rainy weather stop you from having a ball at Walt Disney World. As long as you have a backup plan, you won't skip a beat. Always keep an eye out for other activities you can do, and you'll have a vacation you'll never forget.

Hard Drives- Choosing the Right One

Hard drives come in many different sizes and configurations. How much data a hard drive can hold is measured in gigabytes (GB). The latest hard drives can hold anywhere from 80 GB to 1000 GB (1 TB)! When buying a hard drive, size isn't the only factor to look at, however. By choosing the right hard drive for your needs, you'll enjoy your computer more. Hard drives are inexpensive and you should never skimp on one to save money.

For business or basic home use, an 80 GB hard drive should suffice. If you plan on downloading music, movies, or installing a lot of games on your computer, your hard drive should be at least 160 GB. For laptop users, the same space requirements apply, however, many laptops come with small hard drives. Many laptop users choose to keep the small hard drive and buy an external hard drive for excess files to keep costs down.

You can have a huge hard drive, but it will be worthless if it doesn't move data fast enough for your computer! To find data, hard drives have platters on spindles that spin, similar to a CD. How fast a hard drive spins is measured in RPM (revolutions per minute). The higher a hard drive's RPM is, the faster it will perform. Desktop hard drives almost always have 7200 RPM hard drives. Laptop hard drives can range from 4200 RPM to 5400 RPM for budget and midrange uses and 7200 RPM for high end use. Hard drives with RPMs of 10,000 or more are available, but those are mainly for gamers, computer enthusiasts, and servers.

If you are computer user looking for performance, you should know about RAID. RAID lets you put 2 or more hard drives of the same brand and model together and run them at once, which results in faster performance. You can also use RAID so the second hard drives automatically backs up data from the first hard drive, so you always have a backup of your data. There are numerous possible RAID configurations out there, too many to mention in this article.

A hard drive's cache is also another important performance indicator. A hard drive's cache will hold frequently accessed data for faster access by the computer. A good hard drive will have at least 8 MB of cache. As with RPM, the more cache a hard drive has, the better.

Hard drives generally have either an SATA or IDE connection. Both connections are for attaching the hard drive to the motherboard via a cable so that data can be sent and received to and from the computer and drive. SATA is the newest connection and is better than IDE in that it can be faster and uses a much smaller cable. IDE, however, is just as fast as IDE in real world performance testa and hard drives that use IDE are cheaper than SATA hard drives. However, IDE hard drives use large cables that can restrict airflow. Fortunately, you can buy a rounded IDE cable that is not as big for $5-$10 at almost any computer supply store or online computer part retailer, such as Newegg.com or Fry's Electronics.

Hard Drive Selection

Perhaps the biggest mistake people make when building their computer(s) is to underestimate the importance of the hard disk drive (HDD). In our modern society, bigger is synonymous with better, so when you go to buy a hard drive you look at how "big" it is, its data capacity. But is that all you should be considering when buying your hard drive?

Like every other component of your computer, the HDD is far too complex a system to describe in any sort of detail here, but hopefully by the end of this article you will know what to look for when you go to buy your new hard drive.

There are 4 primary aspects to look at in a hard drive (in order of importance):

Rotational frequency and average seek time

Buffer size

Internal/external transfer rates

Capacity

Rotational frequency has become a large selling point (5400/7200/10000/15000RPM) recently, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty finding out what the rotational frequency of your HDD is when you go to buy it. Now of course the faster it spins, the faster it can read from the disk (there are other advantages also), but be aware that the faster it spins, the more wear is put on the drive, and the more likely it is to encounter errors and malfunctions later in life. Hard drives are pretty much the only systems within your computer that have moving parts (CD-ROM, floppy disk drives, and fans also have moving parts, but they're all cheap and if they break you won't lose all the data you've accumulated over the course of owning your computer, be sure to back up your data regularly!). If you know anything about physics or engineering, then you know that moving parts produce friction and wear, and a faster spinning platter (the part that holds the data and spins) means mor e friction, and therefore more wear on your drive. Of course the faster it spins the faster it can read data from the platter. So what can you do? well again you backup your data as much as possible and you get the fastest spinning drive money can buy (which is 7200RPM for ATA devices (the sort you are buying) and 15000RPM for SCSI and some Serial ATA devices (you might get Serial ATA, that depends on your motherboard)). So look for a "7200RPM" label on the drive you're thinking of getting, it's important!

The "buffer" I'm referring to is the transfer buffer that temporarily stores data to read from or write to the hard drive. The reason for this is that the bus (data channel between the hard drive and the motherboard) can only handle so much information at a time, and it takes a long time for the data to be found and retrieved from a platter (random seek time), so it takes a big chunk of the requested data and stores it in a very fast data buffer to be sent at the bus's convenience. So with a larger buffer you can queue more data for transfer over the bus without having to keep sending requests to slowly find more data from the platters. Some newer drives come with as much as 8MB of buffer capacity, but it is more common to see 2 or 4MB. Usually a drive with a large amount will use that as a selling point and print it on the box/website, otherwise you can assume it has a 2/4MB buffer. My advice is to find one with as much as you can afford.

Now for the transfer rates you're going to need to do some searching, the best way to find these numbers is to go to the manufacturer's website and look at specification sheet for the model you're looking to buy (actually this is the best way to get all the information I've talked about so far). One thing to look out for is that you may read something that says 133MB/s or ATA/133 or SATA150 or 150MB/s, and these are not the numbers you are looking for, those numbers describe the bus connecting the hard drive to the motherboard, and are theoretical peak numbers, which tell us virtually nothing. Also, if you are buying a Maxtor, don't bother looking up actual transfer rates, as Maxtor is apparently afraid to release such information. Not to say Maxtor's are bad drives, actually Maxtor has risen to the top in terms of technical support and they are much more willing to replace broken drives than some other companies, which is important since some ridiculously large amount (something like 10 or 15%) of hard drives are either dead on arrival or die within the first few weeks of use. As with the last two points, when looking at transfer speeds (if you can find them) always try to pick the one with the highest numbers you can afford.

Notice that the first three of the 4 major aspects were all speed related? That was done intentionally to give you a sense of the importance of speed in the hard drive, because they are very very slow creatures, and for your gaming experience you don't need an enormous hard drive so much as a fast one. To increase speed substantially more you can set up a RAID, which is a network of hard drives which (in RAID0 mode) share portions of the same data, such that accessing data takes 1/n time (n = number of hard drives attached) compared to 1 hard drive. To do this you really need a hardware RAID chipset, which are commonly included on higher-end mainboards.

Finally, capacity is an unnecessary nicety. The smallest hard drives you can buy today that are still within those higher speed classes are all about 30GB, which is more than enough for your games. But since games are not everything, and if you happen to be an iTunes member or like to download anime then you will really want some extra space. So I would recommend getting something between 60 and 120GB, any more and you're going to be paying through your teeth, any less and you might be looking to buy a supplementary hard drive in a couple years. And, oh yeah, 300GB hard drives from Maxtor are out, but they are comparatively slow, so I wouldn't recommend getting one for gaming, I like to stick to single platter drives (40-100GB usually), as they produce less heat and are less likely to break down on me.

That is really all you need to know in order to make a good choice when upgrading your hard drive or buying one for a new computer. Of course there are many other resources on the web if you would like more detail on the inner working of hard drives. For further information please visit

Rock Band The Game - The Video Game Of All Time

Ever imagined you were in a rock band? Shredding the air guitar? Banging the drums? Bellowing out the vocals? Well, the time has arrived that you can now do it with Rock Band The Game. Rock Band The Game is a video game produced by MTVs Harmonix.

MTVs Harmonix has come up with the ultimate in music/rhythm gaming. The creators of Guitar Hero has now produced Rock Band The Game and hopefully has it all wrapped up for the holidays. It is designed for your favorite video gaming system. Take your pick - PS2, PS3 and Xbox360.

You can play the game by yourself or get others to join in and play lead guitar, bass, drums or do lead vocals with you. You can have up to four players jam with you and play at the same time. What a potential good time!

There are many different levels to Rock Band video game. Congrats to Rock Bands creators for coming up with such an innovative, multi-layered game. No more sitting on the sidelines for you parents. Now you can play along with your kids as part of the same band! They will look at you in a total different light.

Create your own band logo and then create your own character, complete with multiple avatars that can be set up to play a wide variety of musical instruments. Score high enough and the Rock Band game will advance you to its live performance level on each instrument or the vocalsthis is where you can actually perform your own live solos! Who needs karaoke when you can do it for real? Seriously, this game is for the young and old alike.

Judging from the pre-release hysteria, if you plan to jam with your friends and family with Rock Band, you better jump on getting a copy as soon as its released. Pre-order sales have already been limited by the manufacturer to only one per household. Best Buy is even offering a sort of Midnight Madness where you can pick up the game as soon as it is released. Amazon says it is available on their website ... after Christmas. Dont say I didnt warn you. This awesome game will probably sell out in record time.

Harmonix has plans to eventually set up an international, online Rock Band gaming community where you can go to find new band members or just have a jam session. While theyre working on that, get your friends and coworkers to play Rock Band with you. I know one advertising agency has been playing the heck out of Guitar Hero. Rock Band game will take it to a whole new level. They are even designing a week night to play ... after work. Talk about bringing comraderie to the work place.

Take it from me. Wire up your gaming system to your home theater system and enjoy the rock concert in your own studio! The Rock Band Game will make a rock star out of you. Who knows? You may be on tour this time next year. Tour meaning your friend's house, local tavern or maybe even a cruise ship. It can be this popular.

Copying XBOX Games

There really is no shortcut to copying XBOX games. In fact, this is a mightily complicated process and has stumped some really techie people. This is evident with the prevalence of the question on copying XBOX games in Internet message boards and tech chat rooms. But why does one need to be going about there and copying XBOX games? Is this not legal?

If you have an XBOX and you have purchased original games to play on it, chances are you must have ran through a huge chunk of your savings. Original games are very expensive and because CDs are not exactly immortal, you can eventually wear out a game especially if you use it every minute of the day.

To give value to consumers, most countries allow original CD buyers to make back-up copies of their XBOX games in case their original got damaged or got lost provided that they are aware of the law against pirated software and that they actually own an original cd and are only copying XBOX games for their personal use only.

While it is relatively easy to do the copying of XBOX games, the same cannot be said in actually using the XBOX games that you have copied. Most software contain an encryption that must be met when inserted in an XBOX. Copying an XBOX game, however, does not copy this encryption. This is a protection system that most XBOX consoles have as protection against flagrant copying of XBOX games.

To be able to run XBOX games that you have copied, you need to modify your XBOX. This can be a daunting task especially to beginners who are afraid of destroying their XBOXes with their tinkering.

According to most tech experts, there are a lot of ways to modifying your XBOX in order to accommodate the practice of copying of XBOX games. Some are quite complicated and only a tech expert could do while other ways can be expensive but easy.

One is to buy and install a MOD-chip. This will allow your console to play XBOX games that you have copied as well as play imported games from other countries with perfect sound and video with no problem at all. While it may seem that all you have to do is purchase a MOD-Chip and then voila, you have another think coming. There are actually a lot of things that you should consider when buying a MOD-Chip. Most recommend the Divineo Modchips, which are purported to be really reliable. Some of the popular brands are the Xecuter 2 and 3, Xenium, SmartXX, X-bit, Alladin, Chameleon and Xchip.

Another way in copying and using XBOX games is to change the BIOS of the XBOX so that it will no longer read the requirements of the digitally-signed software. This is basically reprogramming the whole BIOS.

You might also consider purchasing a bigger hard drive and just save all your games inside the XBOX. This way, you already have copy of your favorite games inside and would no longer need to swap CDs.

The third way is to do the game swapping technique, wherein you will first boot the original CD and then swap the copy once it has already booted up. This might be very complicated and will not actually serve your purpose in copying your XBOX games

The Macrovision Remover Helps You Protect Your Dvd Collection.

As any avid movie fan (read: DVD Collector) knows, the quality of the movies we buy on DVD is far more superior to just VHS. Often times there are special features, additional footage and even little games on our favorite DVD movies that we simply could never have hoped to enjoy on VHS tape. The only problem being of course is that DVD discs are simply not as damage proof as VHS movies were. All it takes is a little touch or a tiny scratch to make that $20.00 - $30.00 dollar DVD investment turn into nothing more than a coffee cup coaster.

Not to mention of you have kids that now know how to use the DVD player. They'll be handling the DVD movies the same way they handle their toys, putting them down anywhere, touching the bottom of the disc with reckless abandon, and potentially scratching up your precious DVD movies beyond repair. And that's where the word backup comes in. In order to protect your expensive movie collection from damage, dirt, dust, or dirty fingers, I would recommend to all DVD fans a simple solution. backup your DVD Discs. By making a backup copy onto a VHS tape, your kids can still watch their favorite movies without you having to constantly replace them.

I myself love my DVD movies, and often purchase anywhere from 5-6 movies each and every month. And I swiftly make a backup copy of the most watched movies onto a blank VHS tape. Now, in a perfect world, this would take nothing more than connecting my VCR to my DVD player and simply recording the movie. There is however a problem. DVD movies contain something called Macrovision Protection. For those of you not clear on what this is, think of the green fading screen that you see if you've ever tried to backup your DVD to a VHS tape. While this green fading screen does not appear when you're watching your DVD movie, it is always there. And for this reason, if you want to backup your DVD movies to a VHS tape to protect them, you'll need what's called a Macrovision Remover. The Macrovision re mover is a little device that connects between your DVD player and your VHS machine. When connected, you will be able to bypass the Macrovision protection on the DVD disc, and easily record your DVD movie to a blank VHS tape.

Now, before we get into the lower quality of a VHS tape, it's important to note that recording a DVD disc to a VHS tape will still provide you with a better quality viewing experience than buying that same movie on a VHS tape from the get go. More important than that though, you'll be able to protect your DVD discs from getting damaged to the point that they simply will not even play in your DVD player. Great if you have kids or, you simply want to save that special collectors edition of the latest movie and keep it in new condition.

Just what is Macrovision protection? Well, the Wikipedia has this to say about Macrovision: A VHS videotape or DVD (no laserdisc or video CD players implemented it) encoded with Macrovision will cause a VCR set to record it to fail (excluding very old models, modified VCRs, or those approved for "professional usage"). This is usually visible as a scrambled picture as if the tracking was incorrect, or the picture will fade between overly light and dark. A 6-head or 8-head VCR (most are 4-head) can minimize this fluctuation, so it is not as noticeable. A DVD recorder will simply display a message saying the source is copy-protected, and will pause the recording.

This is achieved through a signal implanted within the off screen range (vertical blanking interval) of the video signaleither physically recorded directly on the tape (as with VHS) or created on playback by a chip in the player (as with DVDs) or the digital cable/satellite box (as with all HDTV programs being down-converted to standard definition).

Now that you have a better understanding of what Macrovision is, I want to stress that it is both illegal and immoral for you to make a copy of your own DVD movie for the purpose of giving it to friends or family. After all, a lot of money, time and effort goes into making these great movies. Having said that, it is perfectly legal for you to make a backup copy of your OWN movie, so that you can protect your original DVD disc and keep it in perfect condition.

Far too often, we buy the newest movies and end up with a scratched or damaged disc. This is the only gripe I have with DVD movies. I felt the same way about Compact Discs when they first came out. I would strongly urge any movie fans or movie collectors to use the Macrovision Remover in order to save their DVD movies from damage. You can follow the links in my Bio for more information on the Macrovision Remover / DVD Decoder.

PS2 Swap Magic - Import And Backup PS2 Games Are Just One Swap Magic Away

Playing import games on your Playstation 2 or new Slim PSTwo console was virtually impossible, considering that it required you to install a mod chip into your PS2 machine, something that not everyone is able to do, or is willing to do. A PS2 Mod Chip requires you to solder small wires to some pretty small solder points right on the main board (motherboard) of your PS2 Console. Playing import games was really for the hard core gamer, and the gamers that would be willing to do some internal surgery to their ps2 consoles.

The PS2 Swap Magic changed all of that. With the PS2 Swap Magic there is absolutely no need to solder anything or install any type of chip into your PS2 console. In fact, unlike mod chips for the Playstation 2, with the PS2 Swap Magic you'll be ready to play your import game in just seconds. By using the PS2 Swap Magic and a PS2 Cover, you'll instantly be able to play your import and backup Playstation 2 games without any hassles or fuss.

The PS2 Swap Magic Disc acts as a loader for all of your import and personal backup games. You'll first load up the PS2 Swap Magic disc, and when greeted with the main menu, you will select LOAD PROGRAM and press your X button. At which time, you have to remove and take out the PS2 Swap Magic disc and insert the game disc you wish to load. Unlike a mod chip, where once installed, you just put in the game disc you want to play, the latest import or backup game and power up your PS2 console to start playing. You will have to do what's called a single swap with the PS2 Swap Magic discs. What this means is that you'll simply put in the PS2 Swap Magic Disc first, before your game, and then swap it out after the Swap magic for PS2 has loaded.

While heavy mod chip users consider this annoying, for people like myself, who would prefer not to solder and perform electronics surgery, it's a very small price to pay for being able to play those really cool Japanese and European games. With the newest versions, there are also some added benefits over mod chips, such as loading homebrew applications and software directly from your ps2 memory card. Something that mod chips simply do not allow you to do, unless you buy the high end mod chips like the DMS4, etc... which require even more wires to be soldered.

The features of the PS2 Swap Magic speak for themselves, and clearly indicate that the need for a ps2 mod chip is eliminated completely and there is absolutely no modification required to your ps2 console in order to play your import and backup games with ease.

PS2 Swap Magic - Feature List:

There is no warranty to void

Works with original import games

No modchip for the games to detect

No modification to the internal system

No extra stress on the laser lens

No soldering required - plug and play

Swap Magic 3 CD Version For PS2 CD-R backups Included

Swap Magic DVD Version For PS2 DVD-R backups Included

Multi-Language menu: English, Chinese, Spanish, German, Italian, Korea

Compatable with DVDRips (632mb+ CD-R backups) via TOC Refresh feature*

Includes built-in PAL/NTSC region selector

Games start with the single swap method detailed below

What is important to note is that when you buy the PS2 Swap Magic, you'll actually get 2 individual discs. Don't worry, and don't be confused. One is clearly marked as a CD-Rom disc, which the other Swap Magic disc is the DVD Disc. You'll need both discs, depending on what type of game you are trying to load. The PS2 Swap Magic CD Version is needed for CD based games (yes, some PS2 games - even your personal backup games you may have made) actually fit on a CD-Rom disc, in which case, you will need to use the PS2 Swap Magic CD Disc to load the game. Most games, especially newer ones however require the use of the PS2 Swap Magic DVD Disc. It's really not very hard at all to determine which type of game disc you have, simply because you can look at the disc itself and it should have either the CD-Rom or the DVD logo on the game disc, or blank disc media on which you saved your backup copy.

All You Need To Know About The Cheats Of Video And Pc Games Part 2.

Continued from Part 1

Walkthrough/solve:

These are usually text files (.rts, txt or .doc) that give a detailed description of how to play a game from the beginning to the end. If you read through these too early in the game, you will lose some of the fun of playing with the game.

Puzzle solutions:

These are keys to puzzles that are necessary for you if you want to get ahead in the game. They can be keys to doors, quiz questions, safe combinations, the use of certain objects that the player has to find out relying on the information gathered during the game. These are not considered cheats, either. But if you read them in advance, you will lose some fun of the game.

Strategy guides/game guides:

We can make a distinction between official and non-official game guides. Official guides are printed, illustrated books that are published by game developing companies and you can buy them online or in bookshops. Non-official game guides or FAQs are detailed descriptions made by game fans about particular games, which are usually free and available electronically in txt. or doc. format on the Internet. You can also find game guides in magazines dealing with video games. These detailed descriptions do not only contain the goals of the game, the game control commands, characters, the objects, the rule system, but you can also find extensive information about the strategies concerning end plays and the different situations in a particular game. They used to be made for more complex games such as simulators or strategic games but nowadays they come with almost every video game.

Trainers:

These software are not developed by game developers, they are designed for the manipulation of certain memory values. They usually consist of an exe. file that can be downloaded from the Internet in zipped or compressed format. Trainers allow you to alter certain values and features that are originally not built in the game. For instance, money trainers will give unlimited money, or with the touch of a bottom you can switch on the invulnerability mode. Enthusiastic players and coding people make them for PC games.

In order to use these trainers you have to start the game and with the combination of the ALT+TAB keys you have to switch back to your operating system. Some games do not permit the switch with the combination of the ALT+TAB keys if there is not a parallel program running in the background so it is worth the trouble to open an operating screen before the start of the game. Another simple way of switching back is to use the WIN button on your keyboard.

Before you run the trainer it is important to check it for viruses to make sure that your trainer is free from viruses. In this way you can avoid many unpleasant surprises. Run the program and select the desired option in the trainer. In some cases, if you press certain keys or the combination of certain keys during the game it will result in the desired modifications. You can get information about these modifications and their consequences when you start the trainer as this kind of info is written on the screen right after you start running the program.

Return to your PC game while you are running the trainer, in other words, it is important to run the trainer in the background while your are playing with your game.

Why does the trainer not work with your game?

The most common problem is that the trainer is not compatible with the particular game you play as a result it does not function because it was made for a game with a version number, which is different from the game you use. Most trainers are released with info (.nfo) and readme txt files. In these files you will find all the necessary information about their proper use and the version numbers of the games they are compatible with. In some cases you have to start the trainer before running the game. It is recommended to try out both methods.

Saved game files:

These files have all the different game positions of other players saved for a particular game. They are created when the player has successfully completed a level or has defeated a main enemy or when the hero of the game has been upgraded with super qualities. If you would like to use these files all you have to do is to copy them into the saved game directory of the game and to load them when you start the game. It is highly recommended to make a backup copy of your game positions just in case the new ones would not work.

Editors:

The editors are small programs that enable the player to modify some files of the video game. These can be saved game files or ini files that contain game specific information or files concerning the different characters of the game. Similarly to trainers these are also created by game enthusiasts or programmers. The most common type is the character editor that can alter the characters features, such as hitpoint, dexterity, or stamina in the different RPG games. They can also alter the objects characteristics in the different games. They are very much likely to operate with only those games that have exactly the same version number. The editors should be run in the installation directory that corresponds with the location of those files that we would like to modify, in other cases these files have to be loaded into the editor.

Uhs:

This abbreviation stands for Universal Hint System. These files have so-called uhs extensions and in order to take a look at them you need a UHS viewer software. It provides you either with hints on how to accomplish certain tasks or with direct keys to certain tasks in a given game. You can freely download from their website.

Hex cheats:

They belong to the most difficult types of cheats and you are required to possess at least intermediate or advanced computer skills to implement them. This type of cheat usually contains a hex address and a certain value that should be replaced.

E.g. endless energy: with the help of the Hex Editor you are to replace:

08 3E F0 03 00 74 03 with 08 3E F0 03 00 90 90.

In order to implement this modification you need a Hex Editor. The most well-known ones are the following: WinHex, Hex Workshop, Hex Edit, Advanced Hex Editor, Cygnus Hex Editor. In all cases it is highly recommended to make a backup copy of the file you intend to modify.

Gameshark/Action replay/ Other patch codes:

To apply these cheats you need to buy certain hardware accessories. These are hardware, special devices that you can connect to your game systems and enable you to modify certain features in your games that are originally not permitted. They provide you with advantages such as eternal life, infinite ammunition, objects or money. They function similarly to trainers and they are based on the manipulation of memory values. These cheats are available in shops that sell video games. The most common ones are Game Genie, Pro Action Replay, GameShark, and Codebreaker. The cheats that are used with the games are purchased together with these devices or available in codebooks or via the Internet on certain web pages.

It seems clear now that there is a great deal of different cheats whose applications vary from games to games, ranging from typing in a keyword to complex programming. Only one question remains: Where can you find cheats or help for your favourite game on the Internet?

I can highly recommend the Abby-cheat.com for a start.
